Tech4Learning Employee

What do I do all day?

Well, you probably already know that if I can drag myself out of bed before my toddler, my day is off to a unique start. After getting Iain's boundless energy off to school, I head into work to help develop curriculum, organize professional development, design marketing materials, edit materials for Creative Educator magazine, and read my email to learn about the fun projects you are doing with your students.

A Refresh at MACUL

Last week I had the good fortune to attend the MACUL Conference. I grew up in Michigan, so no matter where the conference is, it is fun to return. This year's conference was made even more special when Tech4Learning was given the President's Award and Liz Allen, a 2008 Tech4Learning Innovative Educator was designated as MACUL's Outstanding Technology-Using Educator of the Year award for 2009!

I was also able to listen to Liz's fantastic session on… Continue

Feeding at an ed conference

I love attending conferences. I have always loved to travel, so visiting new places, hearing new ideas, staying someplace where they wash my towels, are all things I enjoy anyway. But what I am growing to appreciate even more are the conversations.

I am currently at the eMINTS Winter Conference in Missouri and have already had many, many conversations that contribute to my own personal PD. As a trainer, we are often so busy helping others that we don't get, or take, and opportunity to build our… Continue

Lindie,
I need to be better at getting more of my pics up. I am blessed with great travel, and have bunches appropriate. Keep on the pressure, I mean it is just an image transfer...

Sure, we'd love to share. Just let me know what I would email to you -- would it be a few of the student's Pixie pages?

Just a quick Pixie note, because it's after midnight and I have to be at school early in the morning for a book club... Second graders did an activity where they put themselves in a picture with President Lincoln and/or Washington and chose one question they'd like to ask. Some of the questions were quite deep and others just plain funny. First graders are learning about their community, state, country, etc. so we started with drawing their house and putting a photo of themselves in it, typing their street name and finding a map of the US. The next step is locating NJ in the US map and then the US in a world map. Some of my fifth graders are using Pixie to draw original artwork to export as .jpg's for a podcast about an environmental concern. Looking forward to reading and sharing more here but sleep beckons!

FETC was good. It sure was slow compared to past years. The economy is hitting everywhere.
