Today I attended the awards ceremony for the Jim Harbin FAME (Florida Association for Media Education) competition in Orlando, Florida. This is a state-wide competition and one of my 5th grade tech club members from last year received 3rd place for her animation The Velociraptor and the Apatosaurus, a retelling of the tortoise and the hare, with DINOSAURS! At the end of the ceremony I was pleased to see that Tech4Learning was one of the sponsors and provided some free software as prizes. …

I am really trying to move away from printing. The toner is so expensive, and I think it is a better mindset for the kids to only print certain things. I have used "print coupons" which makes them think about and choose what they really want to print, and also I email anything they want to parents (which I can do being at a small school, but it's still a bit time-consuming).
I print if I am creating a display at the school and occasionally print for the kids to take home. If you share online and a parent wants a printed copy, they can print it out at home.
